Developers from Cognition Labs have created a project called Devin, which is capable of learning unfamiliar technologies on its own, working with third-party repositories and even fixing bugs in them. It can also train and improve its own AI models, such as LoRA.

What's even more impressive, Devin can take assignments from freelance exchanges like Habr Freelance and complete them on his own. 😳😳😳 Remember when we used to joke, "In the future, AI will take away our jobs, haha" and the like? Guys, that future is almost here. It's time to remember those who study software engineering, business informatics and related specialties (I say hello to my classmates from HSE).

To briefly describe Devin's work, it looks as follows: Chat - through it Devin communicates with a person and describes his actions. Console - through it he downloads files, sends requests and performs other network and non-network operations. Editor - this is where the AI writes code. Browser - Devin can independently open websites and demonstrate the results of his work. Devin does all of this autonomously. Previously, if we wanted to create a website, we had to ask for code and then manually add it to some text editor. Now Devin can do all of that for us on demand.

Devin is not perfect and still needs human help for most tasks. It was evaluated using the SWE-Bench benchmark, and found that it can already solve 13.86% of all tasks without any assistance - this beats the advanced models, which solve 1.96% of tasks without assistance and 4.80% with assistance. That's the way things are. It's time for all of us to think about how we're going to adapt to the rise of artificial intelligence. And this is no joke.
